SiriusXM Helping Pine Brook Man Share New Music

Jeff Regan, program director for the Alt Nation channel, helped garner interest in Foster the People, other bands.

Pine Brook resident Jeff Regan has played a part in introducing listeners to new bands that have eventually topped FM radio charts. He did this by playing their tunes on SiriusXM's Alt Nation Channel, of which Regan is a program director.

Regan selects songs he thinks will become popular and airs them on the commercial-free alternative rock station, and frequently has been correct, according to the New York Times. Regan's role in programming has helped successfully launch the careers of bands like Foster the People, well-known for the hit song "Pumped Up Kicks," and Grouplove.

One song Regan played for his listeners before it became popular on mainstream radio stations, "Trojans," by Atlas Genius, made it to the No. 5 slot on Billboard's top year-end alternative song chart of 2012.
