Two Towaco businesses, Fortune City Chinese food restaurant and Bollo Salon, were broken into and burglarized on August 1. According to employees of one of the stores, suspects made of with only " a few hundred dollars" worth of money. County and local authorities are still investigating.

Montville police are asking anyone with information regarding the identity of a man stuck and killed by two cars while crossing Route 46 on August 6 to contact the department. Police are also looking for information regarding the second car, which fled the scene.

The New Jersey department of environmental protection issued a drought warning for Morris and four other northern New Jersey counties on August 5, asking residents to take measures to conserve water.

Milling and paving construction caused delays on Route 202 between the public safety building and the Red Barn plaza. The county-sponsored project ran from August 3 to August 6 and involved some night work on August 5.
