Montville Twp Historic Society Program "The Morris Canal Greenway in Passaic County”
Joe Macasek, Vice President of the Canal Society of NJ, will speak on the Morris Canal and the Passaic County Greenway.
The 102 mile Morris Canal was completed in 1831 and continues to be a popular subject. Approximately 3.5 miles went through Montville and Towaco.
In 2010 Passaic County Planning Department received a grant from the Association of NJ Environmental Commissions to examine the feasibility of creating a Morris Canal Greenway in Passaic demostrating the story to be told there and the sites to be preserved.
