Montville Township Independence Day Celebration

The second annual Summer Idol amateur talent competition will again be a part of the Montville Township Independence Day Celebration.

The three-day festival will kick off on Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m. with the semi-final round of Summer Idol. Twenty-four hopefuls from Montville, Towaco, Pine Brook, Morris Plains, Livingston, Cedar Grove, and Lake Hiawatha will compete for a top spot and a chance to perform in the Summer Idol finals, which will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 5 p.m.

The $500 first-place prize will be awarded to the performer who wins the June 25 Summer Idol 2011 final competition. Contestants will perform a variety of acts including singing, dancing and impersonation. Musical styles include Broadway show tunes, hip hop, country, pop and original music.

The 2011 competition is organized and directed by award-winning director, and NJPAC Arts Education Talent Search judge, Camille DiLorenzo. Summer Idol 2011 will be judged by a team of professional talent judges. The Summer Idol competition is only one of more than a dozen events held at the Montville Township Independence Day Celebration. The three-day festival runs June 23 through June 25, and includes a carnival, circus, parade, four free concerts, the Miss fourth of July Beauty Pageant, balloon rides, a flea market, 5K Run and fireworks.

Summer Idol and the Montville Township Independence Day Celebration are organized by the Montville fourth of July Committee and are held on the fields and outdoor stages surrounding Montville Township High School. Parking is $10 for the three-day event.

Lakeland Bank serves as the Official Sponsor for the family friendly event. The Montville Independence Day Festival is located at 100 Horseneck Road in Montville. The fireworks can also be viewed from Montville Community Park, 132 Changebridge Road.
