Chilling 'Veronica's Room' to Kick Off Barn Theatre's 86th Year

Montville theater's production of psychological thriller opens next week.

A play that "explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder" will kick off the Barn Theatre's 86th anniversary next month.

"Veronica's Room," a thriller by Ira Levin, is scheduled to run from Friday, Sept. 6, to Saturday, Sept. 28, at the theater on Skyline Drive in Montville, according to a theater announcement. 

Directed by Omar Kozarsky, the play tells the story of college students Susan and Larry, who are invited to an New England mansion.

"Susan is encouraged to impersonate Veronica (a long-dead daughter of the family) in an effort to provide comfort to Veronica's only surviving sister. But once dressed in Veronica's clothes, Susan finds herself locked in the role... and locked in Veronica's room," the news release says.

The four-person cast features Wendy Schibener (of Morris Plains), William Michael Harper (of Roseland), Laura Kennedy (of Denville), and Michael Lawlor (of Glen Rock).

Performances are 8 p.m. Sept. 6, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28; and 2 p.m. on Sept. 7, 8, 15 and 22. Tickets are $18 (senior/student tickets are $16 on matinees only).
