Venomous Snake Slithers at Pyramid Mountain

A reader snapped photos of this copperhead.

A Patch reader spotted what appears to be a copperhead snake while hiking up in the township in mid-September.

According to the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildwife, the Northern Copperhead is venomous and ranges in length from about 2 to 4 feet. It's red-brown with darker crossbands and tends to be found in on rocky slopes and in forests in the northern part of the state.
