On a Cloudy, Damp Day, Kids Go Fish in Montville

Annual derby held at Masar Park on Saturday morning.

It may have been a bit cloudy and damp on Saturday morning, but that did not stop the regulars and newcomers from casting lines into .

The annual event held for local children in preschool through fifth grade for more than 40 years is sponsored by and , and coordinated by the Montville Recreation Department. Volunteer helpers include students from the R.E.A.C.H. program, and township police. 

The pond is stocked with trout, catfish, blue gill and bass. Children catch fish and then bring them up to get measured and recorded. Prizes were awarded in many categories.

Food and prizes were provided by Kiwanis, the P.B.A. and the recreation department.
