Nor'easter Closes Montville Schools, Postpones Eighth-Grade Orientation

Travel conditions expected to be treacherous Thursday with more than a foot of snow possible.

The Nor'easter that could produce more than a foot of snow has closed Montville schools, including MEDLC, and has caused the rescheduling of eighth-grade orientation.

Orientation at Montville High School has been postponed to Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. and the Integrated Preschool open house has also been moved to next Wednesday.

A winter storm warning has been issued until 6 a.m. Friday with as much as 14 inches of snow and nearly an inch of ice is expected, according to the National Weather Service. Heavy snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain Thursday afternoon before turning back to snow, the NWS reported.

The heavy wet snow combined with wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour could down limbs and power lines.

JCP&L customers without power should call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) and refer to the utility company's outage map.
