Montville Library Picked as a Stop in National Digital Bookmobile Tour

Mark your calendar for Sept. 17 for this free event.

In the digital age, paperback books are turning into megabytes and can be read on a variety of platforms.

Traveling through the country is the “Digital Bookmobile’s” National Tour and the Montville Township Library was chosen as one of the stops in New Jersey. The bookmobile will have Windows and Mac computers, iPhones, iPads, Androids, Blackberrys, Windows Phone 7, Kindles, Sony Readers and Nooks.

It’s free and open to all Montville, Morris County residents and M.A.I.N Library cardholders.

“Bookmobiles used to carry books. Nowadays they carry iPads, Kindles and Blackberry devices,” according to press release. “This 74-foot community outreach vehicle, housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer, is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades. The vehicle is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players, all of which help visitors explore the download services offered by the Montville Twp. Library and other local libraries.”

There are interactive learning stations that let you search the library’s digital media collection, use supported mobile devices and sample eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video.
