Annual Community Earth Day Cleanup Upcoming

Registration is due to Montville Township Recreation Department by Friday.

Montville Township's annual Earth Day Cleanup will be held April 20 this year and organizers are asking those interested in participating to register for the event by Friday.

Each year, local organizations and families volunteer their time to clean up portions of the township in celebration of keeping the planet clean.

"This is a community effort to make Montville Township 'litter free' with a spring cleanup of public roads, properties and parks," the Montville Township Recreation Department said in a flier for the event.

The cleanup will kick off between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. with refreshments at the Montville Township Municipal Building on Changebridge Road. By 9 a.m., groups will be assigned specific areas to clean. The actual cleanup lasts an hour to two hours.

Registering in advance helps organizers determine which groups will be cleaning where. To register, call Maryann Witty of the Montville Township Recreation Department at 973-331-3344 or email mwitty@montvillenj.org.
