Abstract Art, Poetry and Economic Development

Seven days, seven things to do around Montville.

As a news outlet, Montville Patch does its best not to editorialize on its stories. That being said, we hope that someone takes it upon themselves to check out the "XXX ventriloquism" going on in town on Saturday.

As for the rest of us, fear not. There are six more days in the coming week, which means there are at least six other things to do in town. Check it out

  • Monday: The Library Board of Trustees will have its first meeting of February, its second since reorganization in January, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pio Costa auditorium at the Montville Public Library. At its last meeting, the trustees were still discussing how to best handle the Township Committee’s resolution asking all board professionals to take a 10 percent reduction in fees.
  • Tuesday: Students from various Montville-area schools will be participating in the Poetry Out Loud event at the Mayo Center in Morristown. The prose kick off at 10 a.m. Make sure to check back with Patch for coverage of the event.
  • Wednesday: If you feel like getting up early, the Economic Development committee is meeting at the municipal building at 8 a.m. If that’s too early to check in on what the businesses of the town are up to, see what Montville is working on environmentally at the Environmental Committee meeting at 7:30 p.m., also at the municipal building.
  • Thursday: Well, the bad news is that the Mustangs boys basketball missed the county tournament. The good news is that the team is playing Vernon at home at 7 p.m., so there is still a chance to see Montville in action on the court.
  • Friday: The Montville Valhalla Garden Club will be heading out to Edison for the New Jersey Flower and Garden Show and, if the theme “Flowers on Broadway” tickles your fancy, you should probably head over there, too. Tickets and directions can be found here.
  • Saturday: Put the kids to bed and head over to Suppa’s in Pine Brook for comedy with Otto and George. Described as “XXX ventriloquism,” the show kicks off at 9 p.m.
  • Sunday: Abstract artist Brenda Edwards is the first solo gallery for s.h.e. in Boonton. While the opening reception was a few weeks ago, art hounds can still head in to see the work of this Fine Arts Master.
