Montville VFW Proud of Post's 'Living Treasures'

Five veterans have been honored by Morris County.

Montville VFW Post 5481 is comprised of veterans who not only served their country in the military, but also continued to serve the community in a host of other ways—as gardening instructors, members of Montville Township committees and boards, and men who gave their time to build homes, refurbish old computers, assist senior residents with transportation and finances, and work with students.

Over the years, five of the post's members have been recognized as Living Treasures of Morris County, an annual program that recognizes residents 75 or older who are an inspiration to friends, neighbors and children. The program is sponsored by the St. Francis Residential Community, the Morris County Division of Aging and the Lakeland Morris County Chapter of AARP.

"We in Montville NJ VFW Post 5481 are proud of the fact that five of our members have been designated as 'Living Treasures of Morris County, N.J.,'" Joe Quade wrote in a letter about the recognitions.

Quade is among the post's Living Treasures, along with Post Commander Frank Warholic, Hjalmar Johansson, Walter Bringsauf and Al Marocco.
