MEF Has Woodmont and Hilldale Schools Rockin’

The Montville Educational Foundation (MEF) recently awarded a Grant for “Zuma Rocker Chairs” to Gail Serwick, District Occupational Therapist for both Woodmont and Hilldale Elementary Schools.  “These new chairs have been proven to assist children with attention and focusing. They will aid in their ability to remain seated for the entire lesson, thus providing the opportunity to maximize the student’s individual learning potentials”, said Michael Abramson, President of the Montville Educational Foundation (MEF).

“The Zuma Rocker Chairs have been a great addition in the two elementary schools.  Teachers have already commented how much they love them and they have not been distracting (which was a concern at first).  They feel that those children who are currently using them have already shown more focus and are more engaged throughout their daily lessons”, said Ms. Serwick.  Students also love the chairs and as one student commented "I love my chair, it calms me".

"Through the generous donation of eighty-two Zuma Rockers, to Hilldale and Woodmont Elementary Schools, The Montville Educational Foundation has once again helped to enhance education in the Montville Township community. This meaningful contribution provides an ongoing opportunity to achieve our mission of maximizing individual potential while fostering a commitment to life-long learning. Zuma Rockers are designed to eliminate the distraction many students experience in traditional static chairs. By removing that distraction, and eliminating the unconscious desire to fidget, students are able to focus more easily, and engage more fully. The result is not only more active learning for the student, but also a more effective teaching atmosphere. We are grateful to The Montville Educational Foundation for their ongoing commitment to helping us to facilitate and meet our educational goals,” said Dr. Paul R. Fried, Superintendent, Montville Township Public Schools.
