Township Meetings, School Early Dismissal This Week

The Montville Township Economic Development Committee holds its regularly scheduled meeting on the third Wednesday of the month in the Municipal Building. This Wednesday, the meeting will start at 8:15 a.m. There will be discussion regarding the tour of various properties, broker tour of the Bayer facility and the business annual Meet & Greet for 2013. There will also be a follow-up presentation by Marketshare of its revised brochure.

The Montville Township Environmental Commission also meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building. On the agenda for old business is a Tree Ordinance, the October event and Recycling Day in November. For new business, the commission will discuss the Green Minor Subdivision, the Halpin Minor Subdivision and  other items from members.

The Montville Township Planning Board holds its regularly scheduled meetings at 7:30 PM on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month in the Municipal Building.

Originally scheduled for Thursday, the Montville Zoning Board meeting was canceled. All business will be carried to the Oct. 2 meeting, including a resolution to demolish an existing home and construct a new single family home at 13 Forge Hill.

At Montville Library on Wednesday, there will be a movie night. Join the library for a "showing of a critically acclaimed, recent release movie. Adults only please,"  according to the Patch event listing. Call the Library at 973-402-0900 x 227 for more information.

Also at the library, on Thursday is a "Medieval Musing" Lecture Series on the Middle Ages.

There’s only 2 weekends left to catch Veronica’s Room at Montville’s Barn Theatre. There will be showings this Friday – Sunday.

The play, "Veronica's Room," kicks off the theatre's 86th anniversary and "explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder."

It runs through Sept. 28 and performances are 8 p.m. Sept. 20, 21, 27 and 28; and 2 p.m. on Sept. 22. Tickets are $18 (senior/student tickets are $16 on matinees only).

With school in full swing, there’s a slew of events this week:

On Monday, the MTHS ice hockey has a meeting in the high school library at 7 p.m. and the Lazar PTC meets in the cafeteria at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday is Elementary Back-to School night at 7 p.m. and there will be a special board meeting at the district’s administrative offices.

On Wednesday, there’s a Home and School meeting at 9 a.m. at Cedar Hill and William Mason is holding its Tears & Cheers breakfast in the reading room. The MTHS PTC has its welcome back brunch on Wednesday as well at 10:30 a.m.

Lazar’s Back-to School night is Thursday at 7 p.m. and at the same time is the MTHS Mustang meeting in the cafeteria.

Woodmont’s movie night is Friday and there’s early Dismissal this Friday as well for the whole district.
