This weekend, 54 softball teams, from six New Jersey counties, as well as New York, will each pay $495 for a chance to compete in the 13th annual tournament. From Friday night through Sunday afternoon, 129 softball games will take place on twelve fields throughout the entire township. In addition, the event will host raffles and other fundraising activities. “We donated $13,000 last year to the Michelle Find,” said Hill. “That’s the most we’ve ever raised. Name: Elizabeth DeVincenzo, 57, has been the Montville Township Postmaster for twenty years. Thirty-nine years ago, DeVincenzo turned a sometime job, as a substitute mail carrier, into a career with the United States Postal Service. “There were so many opportunities,” said DeVincenzo about the USPS. “I love my job. I love it.” When she became a Postmaster, she was assigned to Towaco. At that time, each of Montville Township’s Post Offices had its own postal carriers who sorted the mail. Name: Cheryl Henderson-Brill, 48, has been a dispatcher for the Montville Township Police force for over eighteen years. She beat out 55 other applicants for the dispatcher position when she applied for the township job. Position: “We are the first contact with the public,” Henderson-Brill explained about her roll as dispatcher. “When they call here for a police officer, or they call 911 for an ambulance or fire department, we are the first contact. We answer the phone. We send the officers. We send the first aid squad out. We send the fire department out.” In addition to being a full-time …
Name: Richard Williams Seabury III, 74 Married: Seabury married Susan Stiegler Seabury in 1965. She was born and raised in Montville. Their families had known each other for years, but the two became interested in each other at a Republican Club picnic held at the old Alpine House, on Alpine Road. Children: Richard, a pilot for Continental, is 43. Jennifer, who is running for School Board in Boonton Township, is 42. Ann Louise, 35, works for Florida Power and Light and owns a horse farm, and Seabury’s youngest, Bradford, 30, lives in Boonton and is an Assistant Morris County Prosecutor. …
Name: Caren Bianco, 49. Married: to Mike Bianco. Children: Becky, 20, a junior at MIT, and Julia, 16, a junior at Montville Township High School. Part of Town: The Biancos have lived in the Lake Valhalla section of Montville almost twenty years. “It goes fast,” she said. Like many people, the Biancos were looking in Chatham and Madison but came west to get more value for the dollar. “It’s changed…There’s been a lot more development even since we moved in here, but, it still has retained a lot of its rural quality. Name: Rev. Michael McKay, 53, Children: Two grown daughters. One lives in Iowa, and the other is in Pennsylvania. Part of Town: McKay has served as pastor of the Montville United Methodist Church in Towaco for 14 years. Current Activities: The Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry . Name: Carmen Cerreto, 44 Children: Three boys ages 17, 14, and 5, and two girls, ages 14 and 5. He has two sets of twins. Part of Town: Cerreto has been associated with Montville for 18 years. “I lived in Pine Brook for 11 years,” explained Cerreto, who now lives in West Caldwell. “My three oldest children still live in Montville.” All of Cerreto’s children are involved with Montville sports. “Every single one of them plays sports in one form or another,” Cerreto said. Name: Tom Mazzaccaro Children: 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Part of Town: Has lived in Montville for 38 years. Shortly after moving to town, he met Mayor Fred Eckhardt at the old Montville recycling center on River Road. Eckhardt helped Mazzaccaro unload his recycling from the car. Mazzaccaro was surprised that the mayor volunteered at the recycling center. As a fan himself of volunteering, Mazzaccaro quickly became involved. Soon he was asked to join the Planning Board. Name: Walter Charles Bringsauf, 80 Family: He has been married to Anne for 55 years. They have two daughters and four grandsons. Part of Town: Moved from his hometown of Carlstadt, to the Towaco section of Montville Township 48 years ago. “I’m almost a native,” Bringsauf joked. Career: After serving in the Korean War, Bringsauf worked for the telephone company while earning his college degree at night. After graduation, a friend, who was working for the Civil Service Commission, suggested Bringsauf look into a computer science internship at Picatinny Arsenal. He applied and got the job. From…
Name: Monroe Weller Date of Birth: February 27, 1911 Age: 100 Part of Town: Has lived in Longview in Montville since 1998. He was born on Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. His parents then moved the family to Coney Island, then New Jersey, and then to Maine. At 12 his family moved him back to New Jersey where he was dubbed a “Maine-iac” because of the New England accent he had developed while living up north.
