United Way Raises $110K For Area Nonprofits

Commercial real estate luncheon honors industry's best, helps to fund improvements.

The United Way of Northern New Jersey raised an estimated $110,000 for the capital improvement needs of area nonprofits through the help of the real estate industry at its 13th annual Commercial Real Estate Network Legacy Luncheon. About 300 professionals from the industry attended the luncheon to support area nonprofits while celebrating the positive impact of several key real estate transactions of the past year. One of those belonged to SHI International Corp. The company received the United Way's 2012 Commercial Real Estate Impact Award for undertaking one of the largest commercial renovations in the northern region and keeping energy efficiency and conservation a focal point of the project.  The project relocated the company's world …

Towaco Assembly Candidate Platforming for Term Limits

Pio Costa hopes to encourage business development, growth in New Jersey.

Tony Pio Costa says he is not a politician. But that isn’t stopping the Fairfield businessman from running for New Jersey State Assembly in District 26. The Towaco resident is challenging Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce in the June 5 primary. Assemblywoman DeCroce filled her husband, Assemblyman Alex DeCroce’s, unfinished term earlier this year following his unexpected death in January. At the time of his death, DeCroce had served in the New Jersey Legislature for almost 23 years. “Just passing the seat down to his wife was inappropriate,” Pio Costa said when asked why he chose to enter the race at this time. Since the mid-2000's, Kidnetic has been providing a place for parents and their kids to come and have a good time in Montville. "It is an enrichment center, so the parents can come and relax while the kids can play and get their energy out," Kendra Asfor, manager of Kidnetic, said. For Sale: 'Real Housewives' Gorga House for $3.8M

Family reportedly trying to move back to Franklin Lakes.

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" stars Joe and Melissa Gorga have put their $3.8 million Montville mansion on the market, according to The Star Ledger. The Star-Ledger reported that in 2010, the Gorga's put their home on the market for $4.5 million but changed their minds after signing on to the Bravo reality show and have now decided to sell to move back to Franklin Lakes. The home, at 8 Pond View, is 13,500 square feet and features six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. Read the full story from The Star Ledger here. 'Jerseylicious:' Tips on New Salon Not Welcome

Gayle Giacomo tries to offer advice for Anthony Lombardi's new salon.

This week's "Jerseylicious" featured fighting words as Gatsby Salon owner, and Bridgewater resident, Gayle Giacomo offered some not so friendly words about Anthony Lombardi's new salon during Sunday's episode. With Lombardi having a small event to promote his new salon, Giacomo attended in an effort to both support her friend and offer advice, she said on the "Jerseylicious" blog on the Style Network's website. Giacomo said that because she had already been through the process of opening a salon, she thought she could offer some tips. "I wanted to help my friend," she said in the blog. "The place wasn't in perfect shape, though, so I'm not sure how he'll be able to open quickly. He didn't have a bathroom, and was sending people to 7-11!" …
