Theresa Sullivan, Michelle Sullivan's mother, hugs Scott Van Koppen, president of the Montville Baseball & Softball Association (MBSA). The MBSA dedicated a field to Sullivan, who was struck and killed by a motorcyclist while walking in 1993. The field will continue to be home to the Michelle Fund Tournament.

This year was nothing short of eventful with a presidential election that happened to fall just days after a superstorm that left Montville without power for days and, in some cases, weeks.

In addition to the dedication of the Michelle Sullivan Memorial Field to comemmorate the tournament in her honor, there was another first in Montville and MBSA history. The U-14 Lady Mustangs (Black) was the first Montville team to ever win a bracket in the tournament since inception 13 years ago.
Under the leadership of Coach/ Mayor Tim Braden, the Lady Mustangs were composed of age-eligible HS freshmen, the sort of which Montville would typically be beaten by year after year by other towns. Hats off to Mr. Braden for envisioning the team the year prior, Coach Immediata for releasing the freshman Varsity girls for the tournament and especially to the girls, themselves, who were an unusually talented group and dedicated to the vision throughout the year of winning the Tournament in 2012.

I live right by this field and I just love seeing the memorial sign for Michelle. I think of this family when I walk by. I am so glad they renovated these fields for our community. I love this photo.
