Who's Montville's Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Barack Obama their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

Update: We've extended the nomination period until Thursday at 5 p.m.

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as their Person of the Year.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Montville's Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

Tell us your pick in the comment section below. We'll gather your suggestions and create a poll beginning Friday.

We will then reach out to the person who has the most votes to bring you a profile of that person.

Tell us who you think should be Montville Patch's Person of the Year 2012 in the comments below.

My vote would be for Mayor Tim Braden - a Montville product, through and through, he has devoted much of his life to the betterment of our town and our children . He manages to keep a sensible tone at committee meetings, votes his conscience - and not what someone else tells him --- He is a good family man, raising his family as he was raised, with high moral and religious values.

I believe that Mayor Tim Braden is a great choice. He has demonstrated great capacity to listen to all of the views and opinions of Montville residents. I believe if the residents had known how good a mayor he has been we would have revolted in 2010. I am actually sadden to hear that he has decided not run again for office.
