Unofficial Primary Results: Nielson, Sandham Prevail
Nielson garnered the most votes.
According to the unofficial totals provided by Montville Township Clerk Trudy Atkinson on Tuesday night, Deb Nielson and Jim Sandham have both won in the Republican primary race for Montville Township committee.
Nielson garnered the most votes, with 1,136, followed by Sandham with 1,087 and Art Daughtry with 906.
"It's over, I need to move forward; I'm tired," said Nielson on Tuesday night. "I'm relieved...the voters have spoken....I look forward to the general election and serving the residents of Montville for the next three years."
Mike O'Brien, the Democrat running uncontested for township committee, received 202 votes, according to Tuesday's unofficial results.
Write-in votes will not be tallied until Wednesday.
2,178 voters out of 14,264 registered voters turned out in Montville on Tuesday, or 15.3 percent.

I very much am surprised and humbled to have received the write-in support of 150 Montville Republican voters without campaigning or even being on the ballot! I wish Deb and Jim the best going forward in the general election, and my heartfelt thoughts to Art Daughtry going forward. Hopefully we can put this nasty chapter of Montville politics behind us and get back to the business of keeping Montville the classy place to live that it is.
