Police responded to Montville Township High School Tuesday afternoon for a report of a dispute between a teacher and student, Montville Township Police Capt. Rudy Appelmann said.

"It turned out to just be an internal problem, lack of communication," Appelmann said.

Appelmann said the student and teacher had a discussion in which they did not agree.

"It didn't escalate. It was resolved before we got there," he said.

Appelmann said police had no further information on the incident.

When asked whether discipline was rendered, Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried commented that the district works to ensure safety of students and faculty members.

"In all instances regarding student discipline, we follow our code of conduct," he said.
