I did not have to look very far to find a shining example of a business that does exactly that. Roots 2 Endz is a full service salon located at 161 Main Road in Montville. Next door to the popular Montville Inn, the understated sign and building that houses this trendy, yet welcoming establishment may be easily missed when driving by, but if you're lucky enough to find your way inside, you will be thankful that you did.

Upon entering the building, a short flight of steps leads down to Roots 2 Endz. This, along with the décor inside, gives the salon a New York Metro feel. Worth noting is the separate entrance for handicapped in the rear of the building, ensuring that all clients can enter safely. After being greeted by staff members Greg, Mario and Megan (who made me feel welcomed and comfortable), I noticed that the design concept reveals a unique blend of modern chic glam, but with a definite "relaxing in comfort" atmosphere.

Meeting owner and master stylist / colorist Kristen Canella was a special treat. Canella disclosed that she has had a life-long passion for making hair beautiful, and decided to follow her ultimate dream when she opened Roots to Endz three years ago. Kristen's dedication to excellence is reflected in her promise to never let a client walk out the door without being 100% happy with how they look and feel. Honoring that promise, a personal relationship is built with every client, explaining why Roots to Endz is ever growing with referrals.

Popular services at Roots 2 Endz are color correction and multi-dimensional color processes, and dry cutting – which is a more precise way of cutting for all hair types, especially curly hair.

Also wildly popular is a Brazilian keratin treatment that infuses keratin into the hair with heat, dramatically reducing frizz and creating smooth and sleek locks. Both super-star stylists Kristen and Mario are expertly trained in the latest techniques and they each have many years of experience behind them. Kristen's specialty is curly hair, and Mario specializes in men's hair services.

Additionally in demand are facial services, performed by an esthetician with over 20 years experience. The salon uses the skin care line Sothys, a well-known product from France, and a product line from Russia called Logar, which is naturally based and fragrance-free. The facial room, smartly situated away from the bustle of the salon, guarantees a relaxing experience.

Canella generously offered to use a product on my own curly mane called TIGI Curlesque, which left my hair uncharacteristically soft and shiny, even the next day! Other popular hair product lines offered by the salon include Sudzz FX, and Provana.

Canella and staff are deeply committed to the Montville community, as evidenced by their generous fund-raising efforts and donations to local businesses, police outings, Montville pet parents, and numerous charities such as Juvenile Arthritis, Muscular Dystrophy, and Relay-for-Life Cut-A-Thon. The salon is also a member of the local chamber of commerce.
