Power Patience Needed as Montville Substation Being Repaired

Few, but some, residents saw the restoration of power in Montville Thursday morning, as Township Administrator Victor Canning said a section of Montville Chase had lights flash back on.
But those residents are an exception as the majority of township residents and businesses remained in the dark. Mayor Tim Braden said it could be a while until power is fully restored, with the estimate from JCP&L remaining at between 7 and 10 days from when it first went out. Braden said he had heard other surrounding municipalities did have some power restored Wednesday.
"That's good news and we're waiting our turn, but we know [JCP&L is] working on our substation here in Montville and until they get our substation up, we just have to be patient," he said.
Braden said some parts of Montville never lost power after Tropical Storm Sandy ripped through New Jersey, taking down trees and power lines and devastating the Jersey shore. Those parts include the area south of 7-Eleven on Changebridge Road and a small section of Towaco. But Canning said it is encouraging that new power restoration was reported Thursday in the township.
"That is, at least, a little progress," he said. "It's at least going in the right direction."
Canning said most of the township's roads were reopened Thursday, with the exception of Pine Brook Road, near Douglas Drive in Towaco, and parts of River Road.
As far as gas, Braden said the Shell station on Changebridge Road received a gas shipment around 11 p.m. Wednesday and cars have been lined up since to fill up.

That is a coincidence, because patience is what i am running out of......along with food and heat.
Please tell me why i still see trees down all over montville when that should be the first order of business. Title should read, patience needed because town does little

1st order of business should be repairing the substation by the power company, with that you can get food and heat. That would also help the gas lines as people wouldn't need their generators
I don't know who writes the articles for the patch, but they really aren't that good. A basic Journalism course would be helpful.

Our town needs to look into burying the power lines underground and/or clearing away the trees from the power lines. I have lived in this town for 20 years and power is constantly going out for a raindrop or a hurricane.

My daughter lives there with her husband & 2 babies. Since they moved in about 2 years ago the power has gone out & the roads were closed at least 5 times. All it has to do is rain or get windy & the lights go out.

Patience I have, hopefully the town will not go back to "business as usual" once power is restored - I hope they become proactive and look into why we loose power as often as we do. It seems in the last few years whenever there is any size storm - power goes out - wasn't always that way
Also now that it is Novemeber - is town hall going to be open to accept our tax money??

My boyfriend lives there, in Towaco, with his family. He is always saying the power is going out, whether it's caused by a little storm, or a big one. I live in Florida, and I deal with all kinds of weather. My power hardly ever, goes out. I guess that's because we build our stuff to be able to handle that kind of chaotic weather. Sounds to me, Montville Township, needs an upgrade... I have been worried sick about him!! This is ridiculous! It's going on a week people, since I have been really able to speak with him, because of the power being out! Get your stuff together, "highly trained" electricians, and start fixing some power lines! Thank you!!
