PHOTOS: Party at the Hot Rod Farm

Classic cars came to Montville for a good time and to raise money for a young cancer patient. The event featured stars from "The Munsters" and The Monkees.

Some real sweet street machines were on display in Montville on Wednesday at the 2011 Fall Hot Rod Party. The car show brought hot rods, motorcycles, trucks—even the original Batmobile—to Rich Conklin's Hot Rod Farm at 65 River Road in the township.

The 18-acre farm, where Conklin grows corn, pumpkins and other crops, also is the location of Radir Wheels and Dead Mans Curve Custom Machines Car Club. Dead Mans Curve hosts the annual Fall Hot Rod Party, which is in its 16th year.

Dead Mans Curve was established in 1978 by three friends: Rich Conklin, Keith Adams and Ed Stinson. In the years since, the club has increased its membership and grown in popularity. The show on Wednesday raised money for a child with cancer through the Two Kids Foundation.

The club’s car shows attract car enthusiasts and celebrities worldwide. In previous years, the car show has featured car customizer George Barris, the creator of the original Batmobile, and actor Henry Winkler, who played "The Fonz” on the television series "Happy Days."

The car club got its name from the song "Dead Man's Curve" by the group Jan and Dean.

"The show is good for the local economy and gives the people something to do and have a good time," Conklin said.

The show, which features live music from a variety of bands, ran from 12 to 11 p.m.

This year’s entertainment and celebrity roster featured Eddie Brigati of the original Young Rascals rock band; The Razorbacks Band; actor Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster on the 1960s  "The Munsters" television series; Peter Tork of the Monkees singing group; and television show and singer, songwriter, actress and model Debbie D.

The Montville Police Department P.A.L. had a display table and provided security for the event.
