One Teacher's Opinion
While thoughts may vary on the school district's new custodians, one teacher has made her opinion clear.
Asking around, one will find a lot of opinions about the new custodians in Montville’s schools. Some people understand the need to save costs. Others are upset that longtime workers had to be let go. Regarding the new staff, Board of Education business administrator James Tevis has said that the board is hearing both positive and negative feedback about the new workers. This photo, provided to Patch by Montville High School student Lexi Hartley, show what at least one teacher at the school has to say.

If this clique of unionized jacks REALLY cared for the children they'd tell the union to stow it, forsake the increase, and use the difference to keep the permanent custodial team. Instead, they are harassing the new staff hoping they'll eventually get frustrated and go away. Why am I not surprised?
This April, the Board gets to renegotiate the collective bargain agreement. If they won't grow a spine, I swear I'll do everything in my power - footwork, contributions, Tea Party, whatever it takes - to recall, or at least reelect them ASAP.

this max guy does not have a clue what goes on in this school district.as a montville resident and taxpayer in pine brook for over forty years, let me try to enlighten him.first of all this board wasted 15 thousand dollars of our tax dollars to pay on this idiot to come up with a plan to outsource these custodians.anybody with half a brain and a small amount of business sense would have told you these numbers were screwed up..number two after over a month on the job this cleaning company cant even do the basics..sweep a room? clean a blackboard? next thing you will have people getting sick because the bathrooms are not clean??.most of these custodians that were fired were not making a lot of money, but they took pride in there job. i commend the teacher who left the note on her classroom door..it is a start and i would tell all teachers to take there complaints to the next board meetings and we will get the parents involved,to show this board what a huge mistake they made..hopefully someone will lose THERE job over this..

Meg, I happen to be a Montville parent of two school-age kids, and I do have a clue. For one, I have a copy of the collective bargain agreement right here, on my table., and the numbers in it make me sick. They are the reason why Montville cannot afford a permanent custodian team. I'd also like my kids to have the best services possible, but I'm not willing to serve as the Board's free ATM to ensure that. And is someone loses THERE (sic!) job over it, I hope it'll be the Board and the super.
On a separate issue, I would suggest you to learn basic English grammar before running your mouth at strangers. You seem to be a poster person for the virtues of "pablik edoukeishn".

Dear Meg, unlike some individuals I actually have to work. That, unfortunately, includes 8pm. Wish I could be there to counter the pro-union gang of leeches that dominates those meetings. I doubt, however, that I'll have much "positive" to say, except that I'll be VERY positive about supporting ANY BoE budget cuts the town council will offer next year.
