Montville Schools Closed Monday, Tuesday
M.E.D.L.C. will also be closed.
All Montville Township public schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
The district announced the school closings on the Montville Township Public Schools website Sunday afternoon. Additionally, M.E.D.L.C. will also be closed for the two days.
According to Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried, an announcement that school will open Tuesday may be made at a later time if weather conditions improve. As for M.E.D.L.C., opening depends on Gov. Chris Christie's designation of a state of emergency.
"M.E.D.L.C. will always be closed if a state of emergency is declared by the state," Fried said. "M.E.D.L.C. will be closed on Monday, as there is a state of emergency. On Tuesday, if the state of emergency is lifted but schools are closed, Lazar M.E.D.L.C. will be canceled but Hilldale will be open for elementary M.E.D.L.C."
School closures were announced throughout the state Sunday as municipalities prepared for Hurricane Sandy to potentially hit land in New Jersey early this week, bringing expected flooding and power outages. Montville Township began preparing for the storm last week.
