Letter: Last Day For Power Line Comments
Tuesday is the deadline to submit comments to the National Park Service about the proposed Susquehanna-Roseland power line.
The following email was sent by a Pine Brook resident about Tuesday being the last chance to submit comments to the National Park Service about the proposed Susquehanna-Roseland power line, which would be added along an existing line that runs next to the police station and a field behind Lazar Middle School.
Hi all,
REMINDER—(Tuesday) is the deadline for emailing comments to the National Park Services regarding the massive power lines that may come through Montville. More details are below. The National Park Service could stop the project—which would benefit our community—if it decides on a "No Build" alternative.
Your comments can relate to how you feel about lines coming through Montville, but they should also be relevant to the NPS' mission and decision. The 200' lines will come through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area and Appalachian Trail, treasured park land, home to much wildlife and the scenic destination of 5.2 million visitors a year. Recreation includes: fishing, swimming, hiking, cross-country skiing, rock climbing and sightseeing. It is "NJ's Park." The current lines going through the park are covered by the tree line. Proposed lines will exceed the tree line by 100', will have blinking lights on them and will need to be serviced by helicopter. That is after the land is destroyed to rip out old towers and put in new ones. These are just a few suggestions. Read more below to understand what it could mean to Montville.
