Independence Day isn't just a one day event in Montville. Instead, the township will see a three day festival which includes a parade, fundraiser runs, a carnival, singing competitions, and much more.

Here are five things to know about the Independence Day celebration at the Montville Township High School:

1) There will be three days of carnival rides, and wristbands are for sale every day. If you can get a wristband early enough (Thursday night or early on Saturday), they are only $20. Otherwise they are $25 at the door.

2. The "Summer Idol" competition main stage event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday for the semifinal round. The finals will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m. But the competition won't be the only way to hear some music, there will also be such bands as the Rolling Bones on Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Rag Doll, a Frankie Valli tribute band from 9 to 10 p.m. on Friday.

3. Dogs are not allowed at the event, and the organizers suggest bringing blankets, non-alcoholic refreshments, bug spray, and blankets, specifically for concert-goers.

4. A parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25 including a costume and bike decorating contest. Line-up begins at 10 a.m. and there will be floats, jugglers, school groups, antique cars and more.

5. The Alain Zerbini Circus will perform shows at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 at the high school. The 90 minute show features jugglers, comedy magic acts, clowns, and more circus standards. Tickets are $5 but kids younger than 12 are free.
