Car Wash Burglary Under Investigation
Police said cash was stolen after office window was broken.
The business was broken into by pushing an air conditioning unit through an office window, Capt. Rudy Appelmann said.
Appelmann said the business owners realized the money, of which the amount was not known, was stolen around 8 a.m. The alleged burglary occurred some time overnight between when the business closed and when the owners arrived on Jan. 27.
While the owners reported cash stolen, Appelmann said other valuable items went undisturbed, including a Blackberry cell phone and boombox.
"They took an undetermined amount of cash and nothing else," Appelmann said.
The owners of the car wash use surveillance video cameras to watch over the business but had not yet had a chance to view the tapes as of reporting the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 973-257-4300.
